I loved playing the original Super Mario Brothers on the regular Nintendo. Now Nintendo has rereleased the classic game with tons of new features and updates.

Super Mario Brothers DX brings back the entire original game, plus a lot more. The new Game Boy version includes a whole new quest, a race mode, a challenge mode, and versus mode when you link up with another Game Boy. After playing through the game for awhile, you will unlock the quest for Super players. This quest is not just the old quest with increased difficulty, it is a completely new set of stages. In the race mode, you race through a modification of the normal game levels against Boo. As you get faster and faster at the race, a new Boo will come along until you reach Black Boo. The challenge mode is an interesting new way to play the original set of stages. Each stage has five hidden red coins and a hidden Yoshi egg for you to find. Also, to completely beat the stage, you have to reach a high score. When you accomplish these feats, you receive a medal. You don't have to do all this at one time, but it does help you if you get the Yoshi egg and the five red coins if you are going for the high score. The versus mode is like the race mode, only against a human, instead of the computer. The new game also has stickers that you can print out using the Game Boy Printer, after you do certain things.

The rerelease of Super Mario Brothers was a great idea on Nintendo's part. The game has not lost any of it's original flair and fun, plus, it has plenty of new features to keep the veteran player happy and occupied for a long time. I would recommend this game to anyone who owns a Game Boy, including those who still have or are pros at the original game.
