Pokémon is keeping our man down! Link can't slay all the Pokémon, and this game no longer rules Game Boy. Back when this game was released in 1993, all you heard about was Zelda. Now Zelda is just a distant memory in the past, waiting for your rescue.
I had this game, but had to sell it to keep up with today's gaming market. Evil Funcoland... good for nothing store, "Always low prices", blah blah blah... hmm... what? Oh yeah. Well if my memory serves me correctly, the story of Zelda was remarkable. This is Zelda 4, and you had just returned from saving Hyrule once again. But there is a terrible storm, and your ship gets destroyed while you get knocked out. A girl, Marin, finds you on the beach and heals you back to health. When you wake up, you realize you are missing your sword, and go looking for it. You find your sword, and then an owl comes saying some weird stuff, and that's when all your fun begins.
Right there, the plot's good. Even without a plot, the game is fun. You hack and slash enemies, and when they attack, you protect yourself with a shield. When you came here, enemies started coming too, so it's your job to rid them from the world. You go through dungeons collecting cool items and defeating fun bosses. On your way, you even encounter enemies from Mario!
Graphics are outstanding for this little system. I had the original version for regular Game Boy, but the graphics are just as good, except it wasn't in color. Well, now all you lucky Zelda fans get to play in color.
Music is excellent. It plays well with the game, but gets repetitive and boring. I enjoy this traditional Zelda music, but enough is enough. However, the sound goes well with it. When you slash an enemy, you can hear them rip apart. When you charge up your sword, you can hear the humming.
There are also a few secret goodies. Zelda DX has two more dungeons with two more items. And let's not forget the more powerful sword you can get, or the alternate ending.
Zelda is a classic. Whether you like Pokémon better or not, this is a great game to own. Now hurry up and get it before the world is dominated by Pokémon.
