I have been a fan of the Mario racing games since I first played the Nintendo 64 version. Over the years I have played almost all the versions of this game and have always found it fun. When it came out for Gamecube I just had to have it. This version is pretty similar to the other versions in gameplay, but it is also a little different. The biggest difference is that you ride with two characters per kart. The front character is the driver and the back character tosses the special attacks such as the bananas and the shells. The back character can also punch other karts when they come nearby, although this also sometimes seems to cause a short effect on the ability to control the kart how the driver wants. This game is fun as one player trying to beat the courses and get first place and thus unlocking the special courses. It is also a really fun multiplayer game for up to four players. What I like most about the multiplayer aspect is that you can team up. This is a fun way for my brother and I to play because I am really good at driving and he just likes to be able to attack the other karts. It also makes it a cooperative play game at least when it is only two players and does not make it into a competitive thing, although you most definitely can do two players against each other for competitive play as well. The game is overall pretty simple to get the hang of playing with you basically just using the control stick to control the kart and the A button to go forward. One of the most appealing parts of the game is the great graphics for all the different courses.
