Stop getting up I shot you.

Pros: Great story, good weapons, nice pace on getting harder as you go through the story.
Cons: can't move while shooting, lighting.

The bottom line: For $30, best FPS available on the Wii. Quite bloody, so it might not be appropriate for kids, but any adult fan of FPS games should get this.

If I had only known that this game was better than the Umbrella Chronicles, I would have bought it first. I had been kicking around the idea of buying a FPS game for our Wii. The problem is, I still cannot swallow buying a game for $50. Metroid Prime 3 and a couple other games have been on my "want" list for ages, but the price has not moved. Resident Evil was on sale for $30, but after playing the Umbrella Chronicles and finding it only so, so, I have hesitated in getting this game.

Boy was I wrong.

I am a fan of the zombie FPS games now after playing this and I hope they put more of these out on the Wii. You are an agent for the government named "Leon" and it is your mission to save the Presidents daughter. You are driven out to the country in the middle of nowhere by two spanish speaking police officers. Right from the opening, you get a sense that they are in on a joke you know nothing about. They insist on staying with the car and as soon as you walk into the first house, you become full aware that everyone you will come across is hell bent on killing you.

You start out with your trusty 9mm and really have to become a shot in order to drop your enemy. Hit the guy or gal in the right spot and a explosion of the head happens and a nice spray of blood flies out the top as the corpse falls to the ground. The controls on the Wii are good, but the problem I have is the aim. If you are needing to move while firing, forget it. Your nunchuck become your aim as you use the B button to lock in your shot and the A buttin to fire. The problem is when someone gets to close, you have the tendency to attempt to move either back or forward and your sights get thrown way off. You have to release the B button, move and then relock on your enemy. So, I learned that you have to shoot from a decent distance except with the shotgun.

After a few run-ins with the enemy, you find a shot gun in a house or if you did not find it, you start coming across an arms dealer. He will sell you anything you need. The problem is, you can't buy ammunition. You have to find that. Major flaw with this game if you ask me. I have found times where I need ammo and I could run away and get some from the dealer, but because he has none to sell, I am in a bad spot. Using the knife to maim the enemy is a challenge and often times is only best used when someone is climbing in or out a window or climbing up a ladder. The other thing I don't like about the arms dealer is that he dies to easily. You have to shoot the infected citizens several times, but if you shoot the arms dealer, one shot takes him down. Why did I shoot him? Just wanted to see how tough he was and if I could steal his stuff. Piece of advice, don't shoot him. He did come back after I finished another level, but he does come in handy with medicine and such.

The villagers in the area have been infected with a virus that contains an egg. Once the egg hatches inside the victim, they are under the control of the top bad guy who I don't know the name of, but he looks just like Darth Sidious from the Star Wars movies. You also run into another badd guy who is bald and had a goatee, but I have not learned his name either. I assume he is the muscle for Darth Sidious. I have been able to find the Presidents daughter and free her from the captives, but now I am in the process of trying to get her home. She as well as the agent you are playing as have been infected as well, and I am curious how they are going to cure themselves as the storyline progresses.

The game is quite bloody and if you are squeemish, this is not the game for you. I like the suppense of the game because every time I think I have downed a guy, he gets up and keeps coming. The men seem to have an extra thing where once the head is removed, the creature that came from the egg takes over and pops his head out where the skull used to be keeping the body alive. It also lashes out at you and can hit you from a decent ditance away. So, I make sure I shoot them a few extra times to keep them down.

A lot of the game is in dark or rain, making the game even more erie. The game started near dusk, and as you progress it becomes night. It makes the game even harder when you can't see what is coming at you. Not sure as the game progresses it will become day again, but this added feature makes the character you play as have a permanent light or aura coming from his body. Everything around him lights up and it makes the game a little silly looking. If the creators wanted that effect, just have the guy find a light and have him wear it or carry it.

I played this non stop for almost four hours the first night I brought it home and for me to do that, means this game got my attention. Anyone who like a good bloody FPS needs to play this. Add to it that it is on the Wii, makes it even better because you feel more like you are the character with the controls.
