I purchased a Nintendo Wii because I liked a lot of the family friendly and casual games on the system. When I saw a video for this game, I thought it looked interesting and picked it up.
You play as Tony Montana, if you have ever seen the movie you start the game at the very end of the movie before Tony gets shot up. Only this time you fight your way through and are left with nothing. The game involves getting everything you once had back, taking revenge. and gaining back your reputation.
You do all this mainly by selling crack throughout the 1984 version of Miami and the islands. They recreated the 80's pretty well, from the cars to the way people talk and dress. The soundtrack is large and amazing, it includes the original soundtrack from the movie and many more real songs that fit into the theme of the game. This is the best soundtrack for the Wii that I have come across so far, it does not get old.
Game play is fairly strait forward. This is a sandbox game like GTA, so the first thing you will notice is that you have freedom to do what you wish durring the course of the game, this includes things such as street races, poker, blackjack, slots, betting on cock fights and street fights, or looking and killing gangs that are strung throught Miami. However in order to progress through the game, your main goal will be to purchase "fronts" for your drug cortel so you can gain a larger share of Miami and profit.
If you cant tell by now this game is for adults only. You will here very profane language about every few seconds if not more. After about the 100th time you hear F*** you or any combo of the F*** word it seems a little forced even if it is how Tony talks. You will see blood, you will get weapons like a chain saw that you can use to decapitate people. You will deal in drug deals, stealing cars, women, etc. So if you have children I would recommend to play this game when there not around at least at first to make sure your comfortable with them even watching.
The controls are easy to use after you find the setting that works for you. The tutorial lays out all the basics but in short, you move with the nunchuck and aim with the Wiimote. For a game that wasn't made just for the Wii, the controls are easy to understand and use.
The graphics are pretty much last generation. For the Wii it displays in progressive scan which helps and it doesn't look near as bad as some of the other titles for the system. The load times are kept to a minimum and there is such verity in what you can do, the graphics are almost a non-issue.
This game is one that I would recommend to another adult to purchase for themselves. The story line is one of the best on the system (it won best story for Wii on IGN) and if your looking for something to silence your friends about how kiddie or casual the Wii is, this should do it.
