The best kid show's video game of all time.

Pros: Great graphics, sound, and gameplay
Cons: Repeated battlecries. Very little depth

The bottom line: This is a very fun game. May not hold fighter fans for long, but it's still really fun. Kid's who like the show will be likely to love the game.

Not very many games based off of shows or movies are fun at all, especially ones that are based off of ones that are intended for children. Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy is pretty much the only kids show on television that I can sit down and enjoy, it's hilarious. I thought that I knew that the game was going to suck, but I went and tried it out and was surprised. This is the best game based off a kid's show or movie I've ever played.

Someone has stolen the Grimm Reeper's mojo, giving whoever stole it able to make two people fight in a battle. It's a pretty weak story, but it works overall. So you just play throughout the whole game under the impression that someone is making you fight. Get back the Reeper's mojo!

So when I got this game, I thought it was going to be an adventure game. I was wrong. It is an all out fighting brawler game where a few characters brawl to the death. Besides Dragonball Z, I don't think any show has had this sort of thing, and it's really odd, but somehow, it works.

The game feels a lot like PowerStone, you go around a small arena, where everything can be picked up and thrown at other people. The game doesn't hold up as well as Power Stone, basically because of the fact that this is a Midway game about a cartoon.

The levels are small and pretty much everything in the level can be thrown or broken. You will be able to throw anything from pumpkins, to nuclear waste cans, to a bee hive that is about the explode. There are so many funny things that just happen to pop up in the game that are fun to use as weapons.

Like a Mortal Kombat game, also made by During a fight, you can transport to different levels. The starting level is usually pretty basic, but the transporting level that the levels have are pretty cool. They have guys that are not on a team and are just there to disrupt the fight, such as a giant pumpkin that tries to step on everyone, or a big old king that spins around and punches people that a few levels have. Levels can even have more than one teleporting area! I like how the levels not only have you have to defeat your enemy, but you have other people that you have to avoid and possibly lure into your enemy.

They even included a thing that is similar to a fatality in Mortal Kombat. After the fight you have to "finish him," don't worry to people who want their kids to have a non violent game, (even this game is definitely more violent than most games based off of kids shows), the finishing move is just a cool looking combo where the screen focuses in on those two players and one of them does something that involves an over the top attack. To do the move you have to use your wii remote to get this line on the screen to stretch out to these circles. You guide this line down your screen by slowly pointing down the screen until the line reaches the circles. It's pretty fun, but kind of easy.

Some levels have mounted weapons that you can use to shoot various things at your enemy like poisons or machine guns. Not only can you pick up things to throw at people, but you can pick up weapons to use instead of your standard weapon. You can get items like a sword, a battle axe, or a gun, or even something to turn another player into a chicken. Not only can you do 1 on 1, but you can also do 2 on 1, or even 2 on 2, or a 4 against all making this game even more chaotic!

Attacking with the Wii remote is pretty simple in this game, because it has so few combos. The B button is your main button to press, that does a combo with your guy that usually is some kind of slashing combo. The only motion sensing attacks are if you move your Wii remote up your guy will jump up and do a downward attack, and the other one is once you pick up something you can do a throwing motion with the remote to throw that item at the player. That's pretty much everything there is to the combat, it doesn't have a variety of combos or anything, but neither did Power Stone and that was still fun. The fun is in the environment because you can use pretty much everything around you and you have to learn how to use your environment to your advantage.

So after reading that portion of the review, you probably get an idea that this game is just all out chaos. It is! Levels can have a few stories and you are going to be jumping every which way to attack your enemy. If you are looking for a solid fighter that is suitable for children, this is a good one, but it certainly isn't amazing, and there isn't a whole lot of skill to the fighting because there are virtually no button combos. There is a single battle mode, a multiplayer mode, and story mode. The story mode can be finished in a few hours, and one play through is probably enough and you will want to go straight to multiplayer. Even if you aren't a kid and you are a fan of fighters, this has so much stuff you have to use in the environment that it is absolutely a lot of fun to play and I would definitely suggest a rental.

The sound in the game is great. They have voiceovers from a whole bunch of the characters from the tv show and during cutscenes they have conversations with each other, and they make an attempt to make it feel like you are watching the TV show, and with all of the ridiculous weapons and environments that really capture that feel. Every weapon, environment, and character has its own sound and since there are so many things in the game, you will be constantly hearing new sounds and they all sound great. My only problem with the sound is the players in the game constantly will repeat the same battlecry, and most of the time they aren't very funny. They did equip every player with different reactions to different things that happen in the game, such as if a player catches on fire, each player will say something different.

The graphics have the cell shaded animation style like games such as Dragon Ball Z has. The players, environments, and weapons have a look that makes them look both two dimensional and three dimensional and everything looks very cartoony and capture the feel of the show. Since there are so many environments and players in the game, it's pretty amazing how much work they did on it and everything looks perfect when it comes to this graphical style being a game that you would think would be a cheap budget and crappy game. This game looks great with a great artistic quality, it's not groundbreaking, because it could easily be on the gamecube, but it still looks great because of all the detail they put in it.

All in all, this game is very surprising, you would expect it to be a kid's game that's easy and an adult couldn't enjoy it. I had a lot of fun with it and I think anyone can. This a very fun game, and if you are a kid who likes the show, I'd say definitely go and get this game. If you are older, I'd rent it, after a while it gets pretty repetitive, but the multiplayer is certainly fun.
