"Silent Hill"--- What is your image of the words??
Do you think it is quiet or an innocent place? or scary?
When you see the cover of the game which shows a face of a fuzzy man, you absolutely feel curious about what happens in the game.

It is an horror adventure 3D game. Once you start to play, you cannot stop playing until you clear it. Fighting with grotesque monsters, you have to solve many riddles, searching for a hint.

Setting
The setting is a country city, called "Silent Hill". It used to be a beautiful sightseeing place, but it turned into an unpopular ghost town.
Harry Mason (the main character, visited the city with his adopted child, Cheryl). His scary experience is taken place there.

The city was covered with a white and thick fog, so we can not see clearly. In the fog, many grotesque and creepy monsters are wandering. You can notice them by a hand-held radio, which gives noise as the monsters are approaching.

For example, I struggle with beating "Air Screamer", which is like flying bird and attack him from the sky. Also "Incubus", which looks like enormous devil and which has a goat-like head and big wing. He launch lightning to him, flying, from the sky. One of the creepy monster is "Puppet Nurse", which is parasitized by leech and wears nurse attire. She attacks with scalpel.

Sometimes the city turns into "another world", which is covered with blood. You have to visit both of the worlds to clear the game.

Story
During the vacation, Harry and Cheryl decided to visit a forlorn city, "Silent Hill". However, before reaching the city, they had an accident with his car. After he became conscious, he realized Cheryl had disappeared. The city was covered with a thick fog and there were many mysterious materials on the road, like a lot of paper or splashed blood.
He has to keep advancing with his map, encountering a lot of creepy monsters.


Audio-Visual Effects
It is so creepy and scary. During the play, you will visit many places to clear like school, downtown, hospital in the city. In the hospital, I felt so scare with background music. It is very solemn and it reverberates. As the foot steps sound of "Puppet Nurse" the approach, I felt fear and became panic.

When you are in another world, it is very dark so you have to depend on the small flashlight. You will be surprised because the enemy appears suddenly.
When you kill the enemy, or were attacked by them, the blood splashes with a weird sound.

Fight
The main character can use tools for fighting with enemies. Also, you can run away to avoid fighting. In the early stages of the game, he can get a hand gun (given by a police) or a pipe which is made of iron, and a knife. Because of his inexperience, it is hard to manage the weapons. He can use a hand gun, walking backward. It can stock only 15 bullets so you have to pay attention to search them. Also, you need to find a first- aid kit on the way. The pipe and the knife are kind of useless. We can say it is better to have nothing. Especially a knife, it is very short and it takes time to learn how to use it effectively to attack the enemies. As you keep playing, you can get much better tools, like a rifle, a chain saw, a hammer and an axe. You can do much damage to the enemies.

Puzzle
There are some kinds of puzzle. For example, we have to think the proper combination of number taking the cue from the picture. Also, I faced the locked door. But if you looked around carefully or read the explanation of tools, you can know the way to advance.

Overall
I love this game. It is kind of hard if you are not familiar with the horror game. The interesting parts of the game are the creepy sight and sound effects. Also I struggle with solving many mysteries to find Cheryl. Sometimes difficult puzzle makes us confuses us and it motivates me to keep continuing to play the game.
