Pros: Stunning graphics, good sound, diverse range of weapons, 4 unique characters to choose from
Cons: Repetitive and boring gameplay, world seems lifeless, confusing level design
The bottom line: Better than its predecessors but not good enough to compete with other PS3 titles due to its frustrating and boring gameplay, lousy level design and lousy AI.

This was one of my first PS3 games. I bought this because it looked promising and it was published by Sony. I always like action-packed games especially those developed by the Japanese and also those released by Sony. But this time round, I was very disappointed.
When I entered the game, the graphics stunned me quite a bit since it was the first time I've seen such a good graphic engine. It is worthy to be a PS3 exclusive due to its stunning graphics. However, the "WOW" moment soon wore off.
The game was crap.
The entire world looks quite "dead". Imagine Ninja Gaiden Sigma but with an even more lifeless world, and you got Genji. The environment is not properly done as well. The entire environment just looks too fake.
The control is a big mess. It is so confusing that in the end, I only used the few basic actions. The whole control thing just doesn't seem right for me.
The combat engine is nothing special for a game and considering the fact that this is an Action game, it is disappointingly simple. There are some combos that you can unleash but it's just not sufficient for an action game. At the end of the day, you will find yourselves slashing through groups after groups of stupid enemies (yea, the AI is quite bad). This tends to become repetitive and boring after a while. The developer tried to make some of the battle scenes as epic as possible, but again, it gets a bit dull after a while. The boss fights are nicely done but that's about it.
Oh, the kamui aka throw-your-enemies-to-an-alternate-world is cool. It allows you to pull your enemies into YOUR world, beat them up by following a certain set of buttons and return to the world unhurt. It's just like the ultimate skill in other games except that, some of your enemies can use kamui on you too.
The option for you to switch characters here and there is cool, conceptually. The implementation is quite OK as well. Each character has his or her unique abilities which might be useful to take down a certain boss, or to overcome a certain obstacle in the world. Problem here is, you might not have the time to figure out which character is more suitable against this BOSS which is currently charging towards you at full speed.
Same goes to the diverse range of weapons. Each weapon has its own pros and cons, and selecting which weapon to use is quite a fun thing to do.
The map is not well implemented as well. I got lost when I tried to follow the map. Imagine this, you look to the front and you see a large area which you can explore, only to find that your map is showing a narrow corridor.
Overall, the game does show what the new PS3 can do graphically but the entire game is not as polished as it should be. It's better than the previous Genji games but it is still not good enough to compete with other PS3 titles.
