Updates Completely Killed This Game.
Pros: -Highly customizable mechs.
-Good explosion effects.
-Very strategy-based game.
Cons: -Combat is slow even with the new update.
-Plain environments.
-Boring storyline.
The bottom line: I highly discourage anyone from buying this game unless you find it in a bargain bin for five dollars. The game is poorly done.

Originally this game was great for those gamers who love to be very strategical, however since the new updated the game has been more or less killed. Many people complained that the combat was too slow (which it was) so the developers made an update which severely reduces the effectiveness of heavy guns. This forces people to rely on faster mechs, which totally changes the strategy of the game to hit and run tactics. The game has always had some very unbalanced builds such as a fast "piler" which can destroy enemy bases in a matter of minutes. Because of the slow movement by the time players get back to their base it may be too late.
The single player mode is sub-par. The game does a poor job of explaining what you are fighting for and the characters are forgettable and cliche. The level of customization is very limited compared to the online part of the game and players are almost always forced to use a specific type of mech.
Visually, the game is below average. Environments are large but rather bland and the mechs themselves look decent at best. The one positive thing about the visual effects are the explosions, which even to this day are above average. However, the aftermath of explosions is very poorly done. After a few seconds the mech that was destroyed will simple disappear off the screen.
