Well at least it looks pretty...

Pros: Beautiful graphics...
Cons: Gameplay is too difficult, horrible music and announcer.

The bottom line: If you like boxing you may like it better than I did... But I won't guarantee that.

Graphics:
The graphics in this game are certainly some of the best that the Xbox 360 has had so far. The way that your fighter slowly gains more muscle the further you are into the game is also something neat. It moves so slow you don't even realize it is happening at first, but then you can see how it slowly increases. Everything about the fighters is amazing, how they move, how they can bleed and get swollen, and the sweat. It looks even better on a High Definition Television. I play on a standard definition television, but I have seen it played on High Definition Televisions.

Sounds:
In what seems to be a pattern with EA games, and EA sports games in particular, I couldn't stand any of the music in this game. And after playing for a few hours I just turned all the music off and played my own music using the songs I uploaded from my CD collection to my Xbox 360 hard drive. That was one of Microsofts greatest decisions let me tell you that...

The other sounds in the game are decent. The punches sound like punches, the crowds sound like crowds, the bells sound like... uhh... bells. But that announcer repeats the same lines all to often and eventually you want him to shut up too, just like the music. And it is so obvious to see when the announcer fills in the blanks in his sentence. For example: "A well executed combo move by ... ... BONECRUSHERRRR!".

Story:
No story to speak of in the game. There are many game modes that pretty much provide the same boxing gameplay. There is an interesting mode (which I guess could classify as story) where you can replay famous fights like the Muhammad Ali fight. Honestly the Muhammad Ali fight was the only one I had heard of, I am not exactly a big boxing fan, which might be one of the reasons I didn't enjoy this game as much as other people. Your ultimate goal in the game though is Career Mode, where you create a boxer and advance through the game.

Gameplay:
When you first turn on the game you may be overwhelmed at the majority if game modes, but the only ones that actually matter are the Career Mode and the mode where you can replay famous fights... Which I forgot the name of... I'm sure you can figure it out :)

In Career Mode you create a boxer to your liking. You can change many aspects of his appearance, even right down to nose size. There are infinte combinations but for my play through I kept mine mostly to the default guy and only altered the height and weight.

I found the actual gameplay in this game to be incredibly hard, and near the final fights I decided to cheat just so I could get the extra achievement points and be able to say that I finished the game. I just used a "knee" move over and over again on my opponents, it usually killed them in just a few minutes. So if you are having problems wining, first go into the options menu and set the difficulty to easy, then go into the "fight store" and buy the "knee" move, and then use that over and over again to achieve victory :)

Multiplayer/Online:
This game supports online multiplayer over Xbox Live. The game doesn't have a HUGE amount of people on but you will usually be able to play a game in a relatively short amount of time. I didn't mess around with the online play much because I lost every time I even tried it. But it has online play, and if you want it, have fun.

Other Thoughts:
I won't like to you, the main reason I bought this game was because I was bored and low on money and I really wanted to play a videogame on my Xbox 360 which had been collecting dust for awhile. One thing worth mentioning about this game though is the ease of the achievements. If you would like to nearly instantly boost your Xbox Live achievement point amount you should rent or buy this game. According to most people you can get all of the achievement points in 5 to 6 hours. I didn't time myself so I couldn't give you an exact amount of time but it wasn't too long. In fact you could probably rent or buy this game for the exact same amount these days...
