Pros: Alternative to Sim City, nice ambient sounds
Cons: Takes a while for your city to develop, mess up building your town and you might be crippled.

Ever wish you could build an awesome Roman empire but don't know where to look. Think you are really good because you are master builder in Sim City? Well show me what you got in Caesar III and I'll think about it. Caesar III is one of those build your own empire games where you are in control. You set the taxes, build the buildings, and the layout of the city. It's all thought up by you.

Graphics - The buildings look very good and you can swing the camera around to look at it from four different angles. The people that walk around your city are very tiny though. The effects from a riot is hilarious watching a mob run through your city and destroying your buildings as they move about.

Sounds - The game is backed up by lots of sounds from various buildings. You can hear the pigs squeal from the pig farms, hear a crowd walk through the market, and water being transfered from the lakes into fountains. It adds to the big city feeling and you will look down on it feeling proud of your city.

Gameplay - Everything that a mayor needs to run the city is included, that includes tax, graphs of your progress, and overall layout of your city. You basically build the town however you want it in any way and no two mayors will have the exact layout in a given scenario. Some designs are more efficient than others. Nothing much can be said about this category since the game evolves around how well you manage your city.

Some might say this is a Sim City ripoff and should burn. I think it is an excellent refresher from modern building into building those elegant buildings from Roman times. So go grab yourself a copy and become the next Caesar.
